Greek mythology says that white roses were born with Aphrodite to challenge her beauty. One day Eros, playing in the gardens of Mount Olympus, was stung by bees while gathering the flowers. His blood coloured the blossoms. Then Aphrodite in her eagerness to heal him, dropped a bottle of perfume which gave its fragrance to the roses. Тhe Rose, famous as the queen of the flowers, is the symbol of Bulgaria.
The reverse of this coin displays a beautiful coloured image of the Bulgarian Rose printed on a frosted background. The coin has an ornate selective gold gilded border with Bulgarian scripts.
The obverse of the coin features the Raphael Maklouf effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, sovereign of the Commonwealth and denomination of Niue $2
The Bulgarian Rose coin is struck from 1oz of pure silver. No more than 3,000 coins will be issued by the New Zealand Mint. The coins are legal tender of the Government of Niue Island.
This coin is packaged in a Burgundy flower shaped custom mould case, featuring a Rose on the lid. The packaging contains imitated rose petals with a distinctive Rose Oil fragrance.
