Colt ® M16 1oz Silver Coin

About the Design

The M16 is a lightweight, gas-operated rifle principally manufactured by Colt®. Tested by the United States Air Force in 1961, the M16 entered United States Army service in 1963 where it achieved widespread acceptance among US troops. Over 40 years on, new variants are still in use.

Obverse

Features the American eagle with a border of stars surrounding this iconic American bird. Around the edge of this face is engraved the denomination (Two Dollars) and the inscription 'America 2010 – Mesa Grande'

Reverse

Features the iconic M16 firearm along with the Colt® brand and Rampant Colt®. Above this is the engraved heading 'M16 Caliber 5.56mm'. Draped across the top of the coin are the stars and stripes of the American flag in colour.

Limited Mintage

No more than 20,000 Colt M16 Silver Coloured coins will be issued by New Zealand Mint.

Packaging

Each coin is presented in a display case shaped in the form of a genuine Colt® M16 magazine.
