Disney Villains We Love to Hate

The Queen is the iconic and menacing villain from Disney's first full-length animated feature Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. So, it seemed appropriate that she is featured as the first release in our new Disney Villains Coin Collection.

The film premiered on December 21, 1937, at the Carthay Circle Theatre in Hollywood. The Queen was therefore the first character to speak in a Disney animated feature. Her first line of dialogue was: "Slave in the magic mirror, come from the farthest space, through wind and darkness I summon thee. Speak! Let me see thy face."

The Queen subsequently demands "Magic mirror on the wall who is the fairest of them all?". On discovering that Snow White is the fairest, she dispatches her Huntsman to kill her. When he fails in his mission, the Queen takes matters into her own hands—using dark magic to transform herself into an old hag, in one final effort to do away with her beautiful rival. Interestingly, in England the film was deemed too scary for children, and those under 16 had to be accompanied by a parent!

This first striking 1oz silver coin features a coloured image of the menacing Queen holding her poison apple. She is pictured against a mirror-like background, below the engraved phrase "Just One Bite".

The coin is delivered in complementary fairy-tale book-style packaging. The spine-chilling design on the coin case is in keeping with the Disney Villains theme. The Certificate of Authenticity is printed alongside the coin.

All in all, a deliciously wicked addition to any Disney fan collection. But, with only 10,000 coins available worldwide, you may need to be diabolically devious to get your hands on one. In fact, why not sign up to our newsletter to be the first to hear about new Disney Villain coins in 2018.
