New Star Wars Premium Helmets Coin Collection Revealed!

Today marks the launch of our new Star Wars Premium Helmets Coin Collection. We are suitablly excited to bring you this impressive collection which, in a first for our officially licensed Star Wars collections, will feature non-traditional, uniquely shaped coins to add an extra dimension to the design.

Naturally this first coin replicates one of the most recognisable helmets, that of the iconic villain Darth VaderTM. Darth Vader was instrumental in helping Emperor PalpatineTM destroy the Jedi KnightsTM. He duelled with his former Jedi MasterTM Obi-Wan KenobiTM, but suffered severe injuries nearly burning to death in flames of the volcanic planet MustafarTM. His shattered body was subsequently sustained by specially built armour and a unique helmet that strikes fear into the hearts of JediTM and RebelsTM alike.

The early design for Darth Vader wearing his helmet occurred between the end of January and the first few days of March 1975, when Ralph McQuarrie was brought in to paint five moments from the second rough draft for Star Wars in order to convince the officials at Fox to invest in the movie.

Not only is this coin minted in the shape of the intimidating helmet that Darth Vader uses, but the Ultra High Relief technique applied adds more depth to the design. Impressive. Most impressive!

The obverse bears the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, confirming it as a limited-edition coin. It is legal tender in Niue and has a mintage of only 5,000 coins worldwide.

The coin will arrive nestled in black velvet inside a high-quality Star Wars branded coin case – perfectly angled to display the 3D aesthetic of the coin. The stylised Certificate of Authenticity also sits within the coin case. Along with the Star Wars themed outer box, this coin truly is a unique collector’s item, so it would be wise to lower your defences and order one soon!
