Marvel Captain America's Shield 5oz Silver Coin
Our latest Marvel coin is made with a grand 5oz of pure silver to resemble Captain America’s remarkable Shield!
Captain America's shield was a concave disk 2.5 feet in diameter, weighing 12 pounds. It is made of a unique Vibranium-metal alloy that has never been duplicated. The shield was cast by American metallurgist Dr. Myron MacLain, who was contracted by the U.S. government to create an impenetrable substance to use for tanks during World War II. MacLain was never able to duplicate the process due to his inability to identify a still unknown factor that played a role in it. The shield was awarded to Captain America by the government several months after the beginning of his career.
To do justice to this phenomenal weapon, the coin has an impressive diameter of 75mm (we couldn’t quite get it to the real size…) and the back is concave, pushing the image outward - how cool! Some of the design is coloured but one of the circles and the star has been left engraved and frosted. Turn to the obverse for the Public Seal of Niue, confirming the coin as legal tender.
Officially licensed, the themed outer box features imagery of the Super Hero himself. Inside, is a high-quality display case where the coin is kept. The acrylic capsule ensures further protection of the coin (as if this tough weapon needs it!). The separate Certificate of Authenticity includes the coin’s unique number in the limited mintage of just 500.
