The Death Star was the Empire’s ultimate weapon: a moon-sized space station with the ability to destroy an entire planet. But the Emperor and Imperial officers like Grand Moff Tarkin™ underestimated the tenacity of the Rebel Alliance, who refused to bow to this technological terror.
Hoping to crush the Rebellion once and for all, the Empire began construction of a second dreaded Death Star near Endor. Emperor Palpatine then leaked word of its construction to the Alliance, hoping to lure rebel forces in and destroy them. The Emperor died at the hands of Darth Vader and the Alliance destroyed the second Death Star, striking a momentous blow for freedom. Decades later, the wreckage of the battle station turned out to hold a perilous secret….
These compelling coins are fully engraved in fine detail, with a frosted finish and added relief. The Death Star II™, in particular, shows the grand weapon during its rebuild. As a 2022 legal tender coin, the effigy of Queen Elizabeth ll is on the obverse of the Death Star™ coin. The Death Star II™ came later and so the Public Seal of Niue is on the obverse of this 2023 coin.
Both arrive tucked in a high-quality, Star Wars™ themed box lined with black velvet. Each is held in an acrylic capsule for protection – not that Death Stars need it! A Certificate of Authenticity and the coin’s unique number in the limited mintage of 3,000 are also provided.
