Coin Story
Star Wars #1, released in April 1977, is the first issue of the Star Wars series of comic books and closely follows the opening events of Star Wars: A New Hope.
The cover for this first issue was based on Howard Chaykin’s original convention poster, which became one of the most valuable posters in the Star Wars collecting world. The artwork includes Obi-Wan KenobiTM and Han SoloTM, though they are not included in the series until issue #2. The X-WingTM, Y-WingTM and TIE FightersTM included also do not appear until issue #5. Furthermore, the artwork also incorrectly depicts Darth VaderTM in green and Obi-Wan and Luke’s LightsabersTM in red!
