When G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero action figures first debuted on store shelves in 1982, kids everywhere wanted to know the story of Hawk, Snake Eyes, Scarlett, and the dastardly Cobra Commander! Where did they turn? To comic books!
As it’s the 40th anniversary of A Real American Hero, we thought we’d celebrate with a 1oz pure silver coin of course! This officially licensed coin is rectangular in shape and features the image from the first comic book in the series. With a mirrored border around it, the characters are left to stand out in full colour. For extra effect, the anniversary logo and speech bubbles are in a mix of medium and heavy frost. To confirm it as legal tender, the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth ll is engraved on the obverse.
This precious piece of memorabilia is kept inside an acrylic capsule – ideal for showcasing it while also keeping it protected. Each coin is then held inside a specially designed G.I. Joe-themed box, featuring the anniversary logo and eye-catching images of the character Snake Eyes. Printed on the back are a Certificate of Authenticity, the coin’s specifications, and the unique number in the mintage of 1,982 – reflecting the year of the launch.
