Although warrior Dwarf Gimli, son of Gloin, is the seventh coin to appear in our THE LORD OF THE RINGS™ Chibi® Coin Series, there is no disputing that he is still a fan favourite! A great fighter, wielding multiple axes, his Dwarf strength is all he needs to crush orcs. Without his strength, the Fellowship would have been far weaker.
This 1oz pure silver coin has been shaped and coloured to mimic Gimli. His Dwarven helmet, bushy eyebrows and long auburn beard are his most significant features on this Chibi® Coin design. The effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Ian Rank-Broadley can be seen on the obverse to confirm it as legal tender.
The outer box is themed to match, with the large window allowing the coin to be easily displayed in its packaging. A Certificate of Authenticity is printed on the box, along with confirmation of the coin’s unique number in the mintage of only 2,000.
One of Gimli's most touching lines comes at the very end of The Return of the King. Right before the final battle, and after three movies worth of comradery and friendship, Gimli remarks “I never thought I’d die fighting side-by-side with an Elf.” It's his way of showing solidarity and friendliness with a former enemy. The once-hardened Legolas smiles at him and asks “How about side-by-side with a friend?”. After a moment of contemplation, Gimli tells him, “Aye.
