Calling all THE LORD OF THE RINGS™ fans, the latest release in our epic Middle-earth coin series is here! Made from pure gold and silver, these impressive collectible coins showcase the grand landscape of the fiery volcano in Mordor, Mount Doom!
Mount Doom was created by the first dark lord Melkor during the First Age. During the Second Age, Sauron chose the land of Mordor as his dwelling place. He used the fire that welled there from the heart of the earth in his sorceries and his forging. Around SA 1600, Sauron forged the One Ring in the depths of the Cracks of Doom, which was built within Mount Doom itself. Mount Ngauruhoe and Mount Ruapehu in our very own Tongariro, New Zealand, were used as Mount Doom in some scenes!
The 3oz silver coin, 55mm in diameter, shows a wide view of Mount Doom whereas the 1oz silver and ¼oz gold show a close-up view. All coins are fully engraved in fine detail and have added relief to do justice to this incredible landscape. The silver coins have been antiqued, and the gold coin includes some mirror-finish, accentuating the wonderful fine gold!
Created in partnership with Warner Bros. Consumer Products, each coin arrives in modern, themed packaging. The gold coin comes in a separate high-quality coin case, that can be angled for display. A Certificate of Authenticity and the coin’s unique number in its mintage are included with all coins.
All have limited worldwide mintages, with the gold as low as 300! To confirm the coins as legal tender, the effigy of Queen Elizabeth ll is engraved on the obverse.
