With the release of a new film into the universe, it seemed the perfect time to look back and celebrate the first movie, The Matrix, which premiered in March 1999. It told the story of a beautiful stranger who leads computer hacker Neo to a forbidding underworld where he discovers the shocking truth- the life he knows is the elaborate deception of an evil cyber-intelligence. Neo subsequently joins legendary and dangerous rebel warrior Morpheus in the battle to destroy the illusion controlling humanity.
The Matrix is known for popularizing a visual effect known as "bullet time", in which the heightened perception of a character is represented by allowing the action within a shot to progress in slow-motion while the camera's viewpoint appears to move through the scene at normal speed. Fans praised The Matrix for these innovative visual effects which have been made a feature on this coin through a mesmerising, coloured image of Neo seeming to stop time and bullets! The bullets have been polished so the silver shines out, along with the movie name.
The words ‘The One’ are also laser engraved around the rim of this 1oz pure silver coin. The obverse bears the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II to confirm it as a legal tender coin. The copyright has also been added to confirm this is officially licensed by Warner Bros.
The compact packaging is themed with green code and entices you to ‘Enter The Matrix’! As a limited-edition collectible, only 3,000 will be minted. A Certificate of Authenticity is found on the back of the box along with the coin’s unique number in the mintage.
