The latest release in our THE LORD OF THE RINGS™ Middle-earth series is here! Made from wonderful pure gold & silver, these coins showcase the eerie landscape of the mighty Black Gate and Tower of the Teeth in Mordor!
Mordor was chosen by Sauron as his realm because of the mountain ranges surrounding it on three sides, creating a natural fortress against his enemies. Our very own Tongariro National Park in New Zealand is where Mordor was set!
The Black Gate was built across the most fortified, direct entrance into Sauron's realm. The wall had but a single gate set into its length and was patrolled unceasingly, with hundreds of Orc holes in which lurked thousands of Orcs ready to attack. On either side were the two Towers of the Teeth, Narchost and Carchost.
All fully engraved, the 3oz silver coin, with an epic 55mm diameter, shows a wide view of this awesome Mordor landscape whereas the 1oz silver and ¼oz gold coins show a close-up view. Relief has been added to give depth to the design. The silver coins have a brilliant antique finish and the gold coin includes mirror-finish to enhance the fine gold!
Confirming the coins as legal tender, the Public Seal of Niue is engraved on the obverse. All have limited worldwide mintages – the gold as low as 300!
Created in partnership with Warner Bros. Consumer Products, each special piece is presented in high-quality, themed packaging. The gold coin comes in a separate case that can be angled for display. Included for each is a Certificate of Authenticity and the coin’s unique number in the limited mintages.
